Living in His PresenceAuthor: Dave Earley

A month or so ago during one of my rare visits to a book store I picked up a copy of “The 21 Most Effective Prayers in the Bible.” I was looking for a book on prayer but was not necessarily looking for another how-to, but something that was biblically based and provided a study. Sometimes it takes me a while to get through some nonfiction books. The rich theological writing can be a bit to comprehend and takes time. While this book does not offer quick breeze through reading, I liked how Earley presented concepts. His writing style was easy to understand and enjoyable to read.

A few weeks later I received “Living in His Presence” to review. When I saw the same author wrote this book as “The 21 Most Effective Prayers in the Bible.” I decided to move it ahead of my other books on the stack. I have desired more and more to live authentically as a Christian and I believe this book offers sound advice on how to connect with God.

Earley starts with a simple revelation. Many of the people in the bible who succeed over difficult circumstances all share a unique factor. Often before or after a great event, the author notes “God was with them.” This ordinary person’s circumstances changed because God supernaturally stepped in. Earley also provides examples of people who chose to handle circumstances on their own and clearly failed because of a lack of God’s presence.

Earley clearly explains how today, normal Christian folk everywhere can experience the same miracles and awesome presence of God in their lives. I enjoyed Earley’s candid honesty and quirky humor. This is one book (as well as his other book) that will be a keeper on the book shelf.
