Modern Day Fishers of Men gives an insightful comparison between the difficult task of witnessing to the lost and the skills a fisherman uses to catch his prey. Mr. Graham and Mr. Putnam go beyond the simple surface similarities and look deeper into the two tasks. The importance of fishermen becoming some of the first disciples is a fascinating look at an often overlooked part of the New Testament.
The book does reference its steps to the bible, but that is not what makes Modern Day Fishers of Men such an interesting read. The writers go through the steps of witnessing to a lost person from building a relationship to how to get those new Christians involved in the ministries they are interested in. They also discuss methods and what does not work when witnessing. We have all invited people to church and had them simply not become members. Whether it was an immediate no or they came for a while and simply faded away, we all have been disappointed in a witnessing attempt that we thought would yield a soul for the Lord. Modern Day Fishers of Men looks at the who’s, what’s, when’s and why’s of successful and failed witnessing. It gives the reader the opportunity to properly load up his tackle box before he goes fishing.
