Staci StallingsStaci, describe yourself for our visitors.

I’m an almost-37 stay-at-home mom who loves to write, play guitar or piano, read, and watch movies. Over-arching all of these, my very favorite thing to do is learn—whether about people or about God. I love putting life’s puzzle together in my head and going, “Ah-ha. Now that was clever, God!”

My favorite kind of music is either contemporary Christian or country (don’t even get me started on Keith Urban! : ) As far as ministries, my favorite is my family. I have three children who are growing so fast, I have to remember to take time to be with them so I don’t completely miss their growing up years.

How do you find time to connect with God?

For me, there is really no time that I’m not connected with God. He and I have pretty much a full-time, running relationship. I think this is part of my love of learning in that there is a part of me which looks for God in everything. My kids even search for birds (my physical sign of the Holy Spirit’s presence) on our way to school every morning. In the concrete world, I read a lot (The Message Bible and many other great “God is with us” books) and I listen to music, sermons, or lectures on CD all the time.

God is the friend I talk with most, the One I go to for advice, and the One Who makes sense of what sometimes seems like the chaos of my life.

CowboyTell us about your current book?

I have two books out right now.

“Cowboy” is about a young mother named Beth who lost her husband in a tragedy. She is working in a diner on the edge of nowhere trying to support her young daughter when in walks Timothy Ashton Raines, a country music superstar. The only thing is, Beth doesn’t recognize him because he is caught in a maelstrom of grief and guilt over the death of his wife. At the diner Beth offers Ashton a cup of coffee and a shoulder to cry on, and as the story progresses, she becomes his only tether to a world that makes any sense. It is a story about the power of love to prevail and how when we walk with God, we never walk alone.

“Lucky” is the sequel to “Cowboy” in that it some of the characters are recur in this story. “Lucky” follows the story of Kalin Lane, a country music superstar wanna-be who had stardom in his grasp until he lost it in a hail of stupid choices. Five years later he’s back, but this time he has to fight his past and his present to get to his future. Danae Scott’s future was set, or so she thought. All-but engaged to her wealthy boyfriend of seven years, she is standing on the cusp of having everything every girl dreams about. But then, in one night the future she’s been building crashes around her just as a brand new future unfolds. “Lucky” is for anyone who’s ever asked, “How did I get here?”

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

Both of these books are what I call “dream books” because I literally had a dream about each one of them. I dreamed one part of the story, and when I woke up, I started filling in the pieces forward and back until I had a novel.

What’s next for you?

Right now I’m working on putting articles on many sites across the web such as My Daily Insights, The Christian Magazine, Spiritual Sisters, and Writer… Interrupted. That and being a mom is keeping my pretty busy.

Next year I have another novel called, “Dreams by Starlight” coming out in May ’07.

If the world is a stage and each of us plays a part, then Camille Wright is the high school wallflower that nobody remembers and only the bullies ever knew was there. However, her headlong dash to Princeton’s Aerospace Engineering program comes to a crashing halt when in order to “round out all those math classes,” she is unwillingly signed up for drama class. Awkward, shy, and quiet, Camille struggles to stay part of the wall even under the bright lights. But sometimes where you want to be isn’t where you were destined to be at all…

Jaylon Patrick Quinn has been the star so long, not even he remembers when he wasn’t. Confident to the point of obnoxious, smooth to the point of disgusting, Jaylon has his high school peers enthralled. However, the fool’s gold of stardom and the glare of being one-half of the school’s star couple have made Jaylon begin to question if this is really how life is best lived. Now he must decide which direction his future is headed and more importantly, if he really wants to go there at all.
