Vickie McDonoughVickie, describe yourself for our visitors.

I’m an avid reader of Christian romances, love watching movies, and do gardening when the weather cooperates. (ex. hobbies, favorite music, ministries)

How do you find time to connect with God?

During my devotions and prayer times and worship at church.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

I never planned to become a writer, never even considered it actually. Then I had a story start running through my head. I was getting very little sleep because the story wouldn’t leave me alone. Finally, I decided that if I wrote down the story, it would get it out of my head. I finished that book, and right out its tail came another one. I began to wonder if God was trying to tell me something and started researching writing. I went to a writers’ conference, joined ACFW and some local writers’ groups and began learning the craft of writing. I’ve been writing six years now and have sold nine books. It still amazes me.

Vickie McDonoughTell us about your current book?

My upcoming release is titled: The Bounty Hunter and the Bride. It’s the story of a sheriff who gives up his badge when an outlaw kills the sheriffâ’s wife. He vows to hunt down the man responsible, but in the process, he keeps a young bride from making a grave mistake.

How did you come up with ideas for your current release?

You may find this odd, but I actually thought up the title of this book and wrote a story to go with it.

List your most recent books.

In 2006, I had two books released: Spinning Out of Control, which is a Heartsong novel, which just placed in the top ten of Heartsong’s Favorite Historical Romance contest. Also, Kiss the (Cook) Bride, a Barbour anthology, was my first contemporary book to be released.

What’s next for you?

I have three books coming out in 2007: The Bounty Hunter and the Bride and A Wealth Beyond Riches, both of which are in my Oklahoma historical series. Also to be released is The Spinster Brides of Cactus Corner, another Barbour anthology, which is set in historical Arizona.
