Wanda, describe yourself for our visitors.
I’ve been married to my husband, Richard for 44 years, and we have have two grown children and 6 grandchildren. My husband and I are members of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians (a group representing various types of Christian ministry). I’m also a member of the North American Association of Ventriloquists, American Christian Fiction Writer’s, and Northwest Christian Writer’s Association . My favorite pastimes are writing, reading, ventriloquism and puppetry, gardening, stamping, and having fun with my grandchildren.
How do you find time to connect with God?
I begin each day with my personal devotions, which involves reading some passages of Scripture, reflecting on some inspirational thoughts from one of my devotional books, and praying for various needs of others, and also that God will guide my words as I write for Him.
Tell us about your journey to publication.
I began writing in 1980, after taking a home-study writing course. Since that time, I’ve had several hundred stories, articles, poems, word puzzles, devotions, monologues, and puppet plays published with a variety of publishers, as well as over twenty novels in print.
My first Amish inspirational romance novel, “A Merry Heart”, was published with Heartsong Presents (Barbour Publishing) in Dec. 1997. More recently, that same book was republished in a longer form, with many new added scenes. I enjoy writing about the Amish because they live a peaceful, simple life. Something I believe we all need in this day and age.
<Tell us about your current book?
My most recent book, “A Sister’s Secret” is Book 1 in a new Amish series set in Holmes County, Ohio. It involves a bit of a mystery, which centers around Grace Hostettler’s family who have come under attack by an unknown person, who Grace believes might be a man from her past, trying to get even with her for breaking up with him.
How did you come up with ideas for your current release?
I came up with the idea for the mystery theme after reading about some Amish people who live in Pennsylvania and had suffered some attacks by people who either didn’t understand their way of life or were prejudiced against them and wanted to make them move.
After visiting Ohio Amish country several times, and getting to know several families, I thought it would be interesting to set a 3-book series there.
List your most recent books.
My most recent books are “The Hope Chest”, an Amish novel, “Wanda E. Brunstetter’s Amish Friends Cookbook,” and my brand new Amish novel, “A Sister’s Secret.”
What’s next for you?
I have several more books in the works. Among them are two Amish-themed children’s books that will be published this July, as well as several more Amish novels that will be published later in 2007 and into 2008.
