image Susan, describe yourself for our visitors.

I love interior design, and was active in that occupation for years, working with clients, and both “staging” and “flipping” houses long before those phrases had been coined. I’d do that kind of work for free……what am I saying, I’m often doing it gratis for friends.

How do you find time to connect with God?

Since our house isn’t conducive to uninterrupted time alone, I have found that staying in bed (sort of like pretending I’m asleep) is my place of guaranteed solitude. That way I get to talk to God (uninterrupted) before rising for the day. We have pieces of conversation throughout the day, as stuff comes up. I read my Bible in sections: I decide on a book to focus on and study. I don’t have a set schedule, it’s more akin to how one reads a novel. I pick it up when I have a block of time, and just curl up, read some and think a lot.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

My recent favorite author is Ruth Bell Graham. She surprised me and appeals to me with her straightforward and discerning manner. By far my favorite books are biographies of people I admire.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

Going through difficult life issues and the things I learned along the way was the path that led me to writing books for women that are on the same unintended journey.

Tell us about your current book?

“The Healing Choice” tells of my story, my co-authors parallel story, and other women’s lives. The laser focus of this book is dealing with the reality, grief, loss and choices after learning that your partner has betrayed some aspect of sexual faithfulness.

image How did you come up with ideas for this book?

For about ten or more years, women have suggested that I put these stories to print, as an adjunct to the recovery workbooks on the same topic I had already written. Fred Stoeker was the catalyst to get it published.
