Lisa, describe yourself for our visitors.

I’m addicted to Way FM–Christian music–and also love Pandora.com, where you can plug in favorite artists on your computer, according to mood, and the computer figures out a radio playlist. Miraculous!

How do you find time to connect with God?

Worship, retreats, reading great Christian books.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?

Francine Rivers, Angie Hunt, John Eldredge, Beth Moore

Tell us about your journey to publication.

I always thought it would be fun to write and started with a romance, Refuge. The general outline of boy-meets-girl, boy-and-girl-break-up, boy-and-girl-get-back-together reassured me and gave me the next phase of the novel. The same day I got a contract for that book, which did crazy-well on the market, was the day I got a job in Christian publishing. Ever since, God has continued to open publishing doors and I just walk through them.

For my first children’s book, God Gave Us You, which was the precursor to this book, God Gave Us Heaven, God awakened me one night and gave me the whole story, polar bear characters and all. I always tell people that I could’ve slept through one of the greatest blessings on my life that night–it’s my best-selling book to date.

Tell us about your current book?

God Gave Us Heaven is the fourth in the God Gave Us series, and deals with all the questions Little Cub has about our forever home.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

Our niece, Mady, died when she was six years old from an undiagnosed heart defect. Our mourning process as a family took us years, and during those years, my children had very basic questions about what had happened to Mady and where she was now. This book really is the synthesis of those years of conversations with my young children.

What Women Want (a Bible study), The Busy Mom’s Devotional, The Betrayed (book 2 in a medieval fiction series called The Gifted), How Big is God? (another children’s book) all came out in the last year.

What’s next for you?

The Blessed, book 3 in The Gifted Series, comes out in September. God Found Us You, an adopted child’s storybook, comes out in February. Breathe, a Colorado historical suspense, comes out next Summer, along with God Gave Us Love, the next in this polar bear children’s series. Oh, and a book on mothering I’m writing for MOPS! That’s what I’m working on right now.
