I’ve been trying to find the words to use for my review of this book and they’re not coming very easily. I have to admit, from the first sentence to the last I was lost. The author is writing from the main character’s perspective. The main problem being, there’s great confusion as to whether or not he’s mentally competent. He’s had many losses in his life. These have had a profound effect on him. When he was younger his family used to sing Gospel music all over Iowa. But one by one the family members died until only his brother is left and their relationship is strained.

The author tells Danny’s story by using flashbacks. He also lets the readers in on what Danny’s thinking and going through. But the way he writes you’re not sure if it’s reality or just happening in his head. I cannot recommend a book that I found so hard to read and that left me totally confused.
