How to Achieve Remarkable Performance in Anything You Do.

The line above is the subtitle for the book, The Encore Effect. Over the past few years, there has been a surge of these sort of, what I term Christian self-help books. Sometimes it pays to be a little skeptical.

Leadership expert, Mark Sanborn, writes with an interesting mix of faith and business world examples. In order to produce a remarkable performance, a person must follow six key practices. They are Passion, Preparation, Practice, Performance, Polish, and Avoiding Pitfalls. I have no argument with the practices outlined and found some of his language to be quite motivating.

I do believe your thought patterns drive your life. God is in total control, but He has given us free will. Often times in the bible you can find examples where God and Jesus would not move forward unless the individual or group as a whole presented faith. Faith isn’t about standing still. In the book of James, the author states "Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead (James 2:17)."

The Encore Effect is good old fashion common sense combined with a drive to succeed. It’s sure to provide a jolt for those seeking to do better. This book makes great reading around this time of year, as we approach a new year.
